Today’s Fremont-area women attend state convention | Local News


Nebraska Women Today held their annual convention April 22-23 at the Mahoney State Park meeting halls. Eighteen women representing four chapters attended.

Cindy Urlacher, state chair, presided. Scheduled events included business meetings and training seminars.

The guest speaker at the luncheon was from WCA in Omaha. The guest speaker at the banquet was Cindy Umland, president of United States Women of Today. Several national officers were present: Lisa Hahn, presidential assistant; Laura Morris, Treasurer; Deb McDonald, Domestic Violence Awareness Program Manager; Tracey Pierson, vice president of programming.

Chapters and members were recognized for their accomplishments during the second and third quarters, which included September-March.

Awards received by the Fremont Area Chapter included: early renewals for the second and third quarters; Maxine Turner – recruiter, Third Quarter Secretary’s Contact, Presidential Medallion, Outstanding State Board Member; Judy Ross – new member.

Fremont Area sponsors Fremont Youth Power, which includes youth ages 3-16. They were recognized for the following projects: Habitat for Humanity – coffee/lunch; FAAA Gala; Valentine’s Day cards for nursing homes; Easter cards for nursing homes; Thanksgiving and Christmas cards for nursing homes; The Salvation Army bell rings. Ellie Connelly has been recognized as the outstanding youth of today.

Elections for the 2022-2023 Nebraska State Board of Directors were held with the following members serving on that board: Turner, president; Julie Fogleman, vice president of programming; Cindy Urlacher, Chair of the Board; and Joyce Harpster, MP.

Turner, Fogleman, Urlacher, and Harpster were attending the Fremont Area State Convention.
