Stakeholders and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River claim that the party is better organized to win elections, especially the 2023 general elections in the state.
Idi Yakubu, elder and party leader in Ogoja, said so during a million man solidarity march in support of Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe in Ogoja on Saturday.
He said that even in opposition, the party remained united in its quest to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River.
Mr. Yakubu, while addressing the crowd during the solidarity with the senatorial candidate from North Cross River, said that Mr. Agom-Jarigbe had been a shining star in the party and the people of the district.
He notably underlined that the senator had proved to be a worthy representative of the constituency in the National Assembly (NASS).
Also speaking, Godwin Offiono, the PDP candidate for the federal constituency of Ogoja/Yala, said the massive turnout in the solidarity march was a demonstration of the acceptability of Mr. Agom-Jarigbe by the people.
He described the senator as the extremely successful “Governor General of Cross River North”.
Meanwhile, Agom-Jarigbe said the poor performance of Governor Ben Ayade, the APC’s candidate for the senatorial constituency, would make it easier for him to win the election.
“The Ben Ayade administration in the state is a bankrupt government. He failed his people. I will face an underperforming Governor and I will defeat him.
He advised his supporters to stand firm with the PDP and all its candidates. “I treat my people with empathy, I put myself in their shoes and their support for me is unparalleled, I owe them a lot.
“I’ve provided most of what people need and filled in the gaps. Fire all the candidates from the PDP, and it will be better for all of us,” he said.
