The River Raisin Chorus, an accredited chapter of the Sweet Adelines International Chorus, is looking for new members to join them as they prepare for their “Sing The Season” concert on December 10.
According to music director Dawn Seigneur, interested singers can join the group Mondays from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Bible Fellowship Church Hall, 14395 S. Telegraph Rd., just south of Albain Road. The next rehearsal dates are November 21, November 28 and December 5. The first hour of rehearsal will be devoted to learning two songs for the upcoming concert.
Lord, who has led the band since 2000, said the choir will rehearse The Beatles’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and “When I’m 64.” New members will learn the songs and join the band on stage when they perform in the December Christmas pageant.
Founded in 1977, the River Raisin Chorus has members ranging in age from women in their late 20s to 80s. The group represents communities from Dearborn to Toledo and sings a cappella, four-part harmony and style music hair salon.
“COVID was really tough on the choir, and we would welcome new members,” Lord said.
The musical director has been a member of Sweet Adelines for 37 years and said she loves conducting and standing on the risers and singing.
“I’m never happier than when I sing,” she added.
The choir performs at community and private events. Their December 10 concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Scott St. Tickets are $10. More information about the concert can be found at www.riverraisinchorus.com or by calling Andrea Johnson at 734-755-2592.
