Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary in Ebonyi, stakeholders across the state expressed support for the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Reform Institutions, Anayo Edwin.
Edwin, who aspires to contest the 2023 gubernatorial election on the PDP platform, is currently the member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency.
PDP leaders across the state are of the view that the legislature is in the best position to reclaim the seat of governor of Ebonyi State for the opposition party.
Anyim4Nigeria movement’s national coordinator, Laz Ude Eze, told the Daily Sun that if the PDP really wants to win the 2023 gubernatorial ballot in Ebonyi, it must field Edwin as its candidate.
Eze explained that it is evident that the federal legislator, judging by his track record and statewide acceptance, has the support of the majority of the Ebonyi people.
According to him, “the PDP has a good chance of winning the next elections with Edwin as its candidate for governor. From what I’ve seen, even those in the opposition parties are eager to vote for him, if the PDP presents him. This is our best; not just for PDP but for Ebony I State, if he’s on the ballot.
“We are looking for someone who will invest in people for the long term. Who will consult, who will unite the Ebonies and create a very happy atmosphere. A breath of fresh air.
“We need a united and peaceful Ebonyi State that will foster togetherness and happiness. That is why I think Edwin is the right candidate for the PDP.
