June 18 (THEWILL) – Nigerian Exchange Limited (“NGX” or “the Exchange”), in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) and NG Clearing (NGCL) is set to host a webinar to deepen knowledge from the investing public on the recently launched NGX Derivatives Market. The webinar, on the theme “Exchange-Traded Derivatives: Improving the Capital Market for Robust Value Creation”, which will be held as part of capacity building and market development of the Exchange, on Thursday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. WAT.

This event builds on the leading market initiatives of the Exchange to boost the derivatives market in Nigeria following the launch of NGX’s Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) market, which was accompanied by the listing of two stock index futures, NGX 30 Index Futures and NGX Pension Index. Futures contracts. To promote clearing efficiency, stability and confidence, the NGX ETD market was launched in collaboration with the first Central Counterparty (CCP) in Nigeria, NG Clearing Limited, to provide the clearing infrastructure for NGX Derivatives Market and its clearing members.

The webinar will focus on the intricacies of derivatives futures, including how the contract is traded and settled on a day-to-day basis, the margining process, and risk management issues. Webinar participants will learn about various applications of stock indices and single stock futures, including trading and arbitrage applications, and a range of investment fund applications, describing the motivations behind these transactions, the how they are executed, as well as the rewards and risks involved. .

Speaking at the webinar, Mr. Jude Chiemeka, Division Head, Capital Markets, NGX, explained that the webinar will serve as a platform to further educate market participants on the Exchange’s efforts and commitment to develop a thriving derivatives market in Nigeria.
