Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has met with key stakeholders at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, in a bid to address major issues affecting the institution including the labor strike. Union of University Academic Staff (ASSU) and the change of name of the institution. .
The meeting, which lasted into the early hours of Friday, addressed major issues including the involvement of the University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the ongoing national strike, the multi -establishment campus and project name change.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the meeting, LAUTECH Alumni Association Global President Mr. Onilede Solomon said the meeting was fruitful.
He added that the strike and other issues related to the institution’s name change will be resolved permanently in a few weeks.
“We are LAUTECH graduates and major LAUTECH players. We actually came to see the governor on some issues, the deliberations of which are still ongoing.
“I can say that in the coming weeks, the issue of the strike at LAUTECH will be resolved and other issues related to the name change of the institution will be resolved permanently.
“The issue of canceling the ASUU strike as it affects LAUTECH was part of the discussion, but it would be concluded in a few days.
“The deliberation we had was very fruitful and as you know the Governor loves LAUTECH so much and has invested so much in the institution. We came to him as permanent actors of LAUTECH to solve some problems and all our discussions were positive.
