Local Beta Club wins seven awards at Georgia Convention

February 4 – National Beta members of the Global Leadership Academy for Homeschoolers celebrate their recent attendance at the Georgia Elementary Beta Convention.

They were announced as winners of the following competitions: First in Technology, First in Service Learning Showcase, First in Black and White Photography, Second in Performing Arts, Fourth in Engineering, Fourth in Color Photography, and Fifth in Marketing and Communications.

“The Sewell Mill Library Design Studio was a major asset in our technology victory,” said GLA Beta Club sponsor Melanie Scott. “Our Elementary, Junior and Senior Divisions all won first place in technology this year thanks to this space. We are grateful for the staff and equipment made available to our students.”

The National Beta State Convention allows students to participate in various performing arts, academic, and STEM-based competitions. This year, the State Convention was offered as a hybrid event due to COVID-19 school travel restrictions in some Georgia counties.

GLA came down from Cobb County to compete on location at the

Savannah Convention Center. These state-level victories provide an opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee during the summer
