CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) — A major pickleball entertainment complex is coming to Charlotte after Rally Entertainment chooses Queen City for its first location.

As the game of pickleball expands throughout the county, this new entertainment experience will come to Charlotte in early 2023 in the Lower South End (LoSo) neighborhood at the corner of Old Pineville Road and Southside Drive.

The complex is called Rally and will span two buildings on a 1.9 acre site, totaling 27,650 square feet of indoor space and featuring a total of eight pickleball courts (four indoor, four outdoor), two bars exclusive, private and semi-private cocktail parties, event spaces and tons of lounges and spectator seating.

“What’s so amazing about this game is that literally anyone can walk onto a field and have a fun, competitive game on their first outing,” said Rally co-founder Charity. “But we’re designing Rally to be more than just pickleball. We have a top notch culinary program which will be a draw in itself.

Rally will also feature a full-service restaurant with a menu inspired by global street food and designed by an award-winning Washington DC-based hospitality team

Rally is owned by Barrett Worthington and Megan Charity. Charity is a world-class pickleball professional who competes on the professional pickleball circuit and the two have founded a tennis and pickleball business. Charity will run Rally’s pickleball program, designing fun events, social leagues and tournaments for all levels of pickleball players.

The rapid growth and development of LoSo and the South Boulevard corridor is one of the reasons Charlotte was chosen as the first location for this development. The company plans to introduce the concept to urban Southeast and Mid-Atlantic markets in the next few years.

“Charlotte is such a vibrant city that embraces active living and has a thriving experiential entertainment scene,” said Rally co-founder (and Davidson College alumnus) Worthington. “We knew this would be the perfect place to launch the Rally brand and we can’t wait to open in such a hot neighborhood as LoSo.”

Rally expects to start this spring, with Liles Construction as the project’s general contractor.

More information about this project can be found on Rally’s website.
