KOTA KINABALU, October 30 – Stakeholders and actors in the country’s creative industry are expected to be more active and aggressive in generating revenue following the allocation of 288 million ringgit especially for the industry in the 2022 budget, a said Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

The creative industry has been the sector that has been hit the hardest in the last year and many artists have been affected. The industry must therefore rebound and begin to recover.

He said that to realize that aspiration, stakeholders and creative industry players need to reorganize their plans through associations and be more innovative in presenting various performances and programs capable of attracting a wider audience.

“In Kelantan, we saw innovations in the performance of Mak Yong by young people and their shows in Istana Budaya were sold out. Moreover, if the young people adapted the Boria show in Penang, it would be able to attract tourists to our country.

“Horror movies with ghosts in Thailand and South Korea are so famous that they are adopted overseas, but ghost movies in Malaysia are comedies… we have to take a review to see how we can have products from our creative industry to compete well abroad, “he said at an event with the Sabah news department here tonight which was also attended by the director of the news department. from Sabah, Nadzerah Abdullah.

Meanwhile, Zahidi said he hopes all agency employees under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia embrace the spirit of unity and work to ensure the Malaysian family is not left behind. in the national wave of digitization.

He said that they should never fail in their duty to provide information to Malaysians as this will create a lack of understanding of current issues and government policies among the public.
