NEW YORK, March 23, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — 5WPR, one of the largest independent public relations firms in the United States, reports that while 84% of American consumers are feeling the direct impact of inflation, three out of four consumers still support recent sanctions imposed against Russia.
Inflation quickly hit US consumers, with 73% of respondents making shopping sacrifices due to high prices in specific areas. Even so, seven in ten consumers are willing to make their purchases more complicated right now, sharing that they would boycott a product after learning it was produced or imported from Russia.
“As many consumers find that their money doesn’t go as far at the pump and grocery store, their decision to prioritize personal values over price speaks volumes,” said 5WPR’s co-CEO. , Dara A. Busch. “Our survey revealed that 77% of consumers surveyed are currently more likely to support Ukrainian brands and businesses in their purchases. Consumers are looking to make a difference where they can and are looking to brands to provide that opportunity.
Current events are proving to be a watershed moment for brands to respond. 71% of U.S. consumers surveyed said a brand’s decision to cut ties with Russia in support of Ukraine impacts their perception of the brand for the better.
“Our survey found that brand statements aren’t enough, consumers will see them. Instead, consumers appreciate and respond to tangible, meaningful actions by brands, such as cutting commercial ties or donating to conservation efforts. “Brands that don’t make the right decision will fall out of favor with consumers,” Busch added.
Full survey information is now available on the 5WPR website.
The research was conducted by 5WPR and Censuswide, with 2,000 respondents aged 18 and over across the United States between 07.03.22 and 22.03.22. The survey was conducted with a national representative of American adults. Censuswide respects and employs members of the Market Research Society which is based on ESOMAR principles.
